Appa and Aana

Now that I am at my parents home, the evenings see us all on my parents bed, sharing "remember when" stories. Today, my parents reminded me of this embarrassing incident from my childhood.

My Apppa (Dad) is balding. He has always been....ever since I can remember. So one day, when I was about 4 years old, we were travelling by bus somewhere. The bus had stopped at a bus stop and there was a temple elephant that came by seeking alms. This is a fairly common sight in India. The elephant came to each window of the bus, stretched out his trunk to recieve the coins offered and after giving it to the mahout, "blessed" the giver with his trunk.
Now I had seen many elephants earlier. Like I said before, elephants are a pretty common sight in India. but I had never seen the top of an elephant before and I couldn't help but exclaim loudly for everyone on the bus to hear...."Oh look!!! The elephant's head is just like Appa's"

  1. Awww, see, I think that is an adorable story! How cute!

When you said "the evenings see us all on my parents bed.." That is often the case when I go to my parents' home. They have a large bed and it's easy to get comfortable, relax and share memories. Isn't that wonderful!
